Reduces cholesterol and triglycerides levels

Consumption of Omega-3 fatty acids lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol, increases HDL (good) cholesterol, and reduces triglycerides. Research has shown that daily doses of 3 to 4 g of Omega-3 reduce triglycerides concentration by 45%.

These findings also explain the dramatic variation in cardiovascular death rates from one region to another, regardless of total cholesterol figures, and depending exclusively on the Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio in the daily diet.
